Pokeit gives you a lot of freedom to customize how you view your poker data. To help you keep track of your creations, we’ve created a system for saving visualizations and all of their component parts.
How things can be saved
Let's say you’ve made a change to one of your visualizations. The save button in the top left of the toolbar will turn purple indicating there are changes to be saved. Clicking on it will open popup allowing you to edit information about the visualization.
The star button in the top right of the popup lets you favorite the visualization. Favorited visualizations appear at the top of the list in the dashboard. Here you can also edit the title and description. Tags can be added in the third box with multiple ones being separated by commas.
If you just want to save over the last version of the visualization, click the “Save” button. If you want to save your changes as a whole new visualization, give it a new name by editing the title and then click the “Save New” button.
What can be saved
You can save the visualizations you create in Pokeit, as well as many of their individual parts including filters, statistics, layouts and more. We designed it this way to save you time and energy. That way the things you create for one visualization can be easily used again in the next. Here’s a list of the things you can save in Pokeit:
Visualizations | The apps of Pokeit which provide dynamic views of data displayed as tables or graphs. |
Layouts | Defines the style and the shape of the visualization as well as describing how that data should appear on the page |
Themes | Sets the color palette and styling of the visualization |
Sources | Defines the dataset to be used in the visualization including all the fields and filters |
Filters | A configurable list of conditional statements joined together by AND or OR. Can be used in source, as well as in a formula |
Formulas | Combination of one or more fields assembled together by an equation and constrained by an optional filter |
You may have already noticed that this list is the same as what’s available to you in the Asset Manager. That’s not coincidence. The Asset Manager, which can be accessed from the asset manager button in the main header, serves as a sort of workbench for creating things in Pokeit.
Click on any one of the icons to see a list of all the saved items you have in Pokeit. Clicking on an item loads it into the Asset Manager where you can edit it, delete it, rename it or use it as a blueprint for creating new things. There’s also a plus button in the top right for creating new assets from scratch.
To find out more about how all these parts come together to form a visualization, check out the Building a visualization article in the Help Center.
Sometimes you don’t need to save
Most of the time you don’t actually need to save. Pokeit will remember any changes you make to open visualizations. You can reload the page, log out and log back in, and those visualizations will still be there along with all the changes you’ve made. It is important to save if you want to close the visualization or clear your Filter Workspace but you still want to keep the changes you've made. Then you should save.
Another situation where you should save is if you’ve made changes to which stats you have selected in one report and want those changes to be made to all of your other reports. If you save, Pokeit will actually go into all of the other reports and change the stats to match. This is a feature we added to Pokeit to save you the trouble of updating all your reports one by one.
